Federal American Grill will open in the space in The Heights in March. New owner Matt Brice, owner of Bistro des Amis in Rice Village, says the new restaurant will maintain several of former owner/chef David Grossman’s popular dishes including the bone marrow and the smoked pork chop, but he'll also add new items such as a Prime filet mignon, jumbo lump crab cake and a truffle mac ‘n’ cheese. Most of the changes will be at lunch. The Federal Grill’s lunch menu will allow diners with limited time the ability to get in and out within 30 minutes. Daily $10 lunch specials, such as fried chicken Thursdays will continue, with more menu items between the $12 to $15 price point being offered. The restaurant will be open seven days a week starting in March and there will be more tables in the bar area with a special bar menu. Feral Hog Dinner at Killen’s Steakhouse
Feral hogs are a real problem in Texas, roaming the range and causing an estimated $400 million in damage every year. They now number in the millions and the state is trying to eradicate them, or at least shrink their numbers. Chef Ronnie Killen is doing his part, because, as it turns out, feral hogs taste really good. And chef Killen wants you to know that. So, on March 6 at 7 p.m., Killen’s Steakhouse in Pearland is hosting a five-course feral hog dinner. For $100 --- plus tax and gratuity --- you can enjoy a pork cheek tamale, peachwood-smoked pork belly, balsamic-glazed back ribs, grilled pork chops and a molten lava cake with candied bacon. Each course is paired with beer or wine. For reservations, directions or information, call 281-485-0844. Killen’s Steakhouse, 2804 S. Main St., Pearland, TX 77581, 281-485-0844.
