| Silky hummus comes with many possible toppings at this casual strip-mall café, such as tahini sauce, sautéed mushrooms, grilled pine nuts and the poached egg and spicy tomato sauce combination known as shakshuka. But Hummus Bar deserves mention for more than its hummus. Thin-crusted, moist-centered falafel are accented and colored with chopped parsley and cilantro. The Monday special is tilapia with couscous and the soup of the day. All-day breakfast options include eggs, tuna salad and vegetables. To drink, expect homemade lemonade, hot tea with mint and Turkish coffee. Desserts are made in-house. Malabi is a cool summer pudding drizzled with rosewater and crowned with piles of pistachios and coconut. |
