The Hummus & Pita Co. Restaurant Review:

Made-to-order but quick-as-can-be Mediterranean fare is what this inspired-concept restaurant delivers. Select the type of bread (or a bowl) to hold your food and filling (falafel, beef, lamb or chicken cooked in various ways), and a chef behind a counter executes your order, adding to it hummus and any number of traditional, fresh Mediterranean mezze, such as Spanish eggplant, baba ghanouj and beet salad. But you’re not done yet, as you must then choose one of six sauces like tahini, tzatziki or harissa. There are also heartier dishes such as bourekas, flaky phyllo stuffed with cheese, potato or spinach, as well as soups. As quickly as this food is served up, it’s anything but fast food --- it’s cooked carefully so flavors are distinct and delicate. There’s a nice selection of beer and wine, and baklava for dessert. In keeping with the restaurant’s eco-friendly orientation, the tables are made from recycled wood from former bowling alleys.
