Hurley’s knows how to hit the right notes. Through the years it has attained a loyal local following while also pleasing out-of-towners in search of a laid-back, oh-so-Napa experience. For lunch, head for the open-sky patio by the fountain and peruse an all-day menu. There’s lighter fare, naturally: various salads from a noble Caesar to roasted baby beets and beans with a goat cheese fritter. Step it up a little with crisp calamari tossed with artichoke hearts, fava bean ravioli and chanterelles, or fat squash blossom fritters. For dinner, succumb to heartier fare in line with chef Hurley’s obsession: wild game. He usually includes a couple of standbys like braised wild boar or grilled venison, and who knows what his annual November hunt will bring? Count on a lively bar scene in the early evening and extending into the midnight hour; no worries---there’s an impressive night owl menu. Give it up to its legendary ice cream sandwiches for dessert.
