Ichiban Japanese Steak House/Sushi Bar Restaurant Review: Most cities and suburbs have one of these boisterous Japanese steakhouses where guests, often part of a celebration party, come hungry and sit at teppanyaki tables for both food and entertainment. Choose among the basic steak, chicken, seafood or vegetable combinations that come with the obligatory miso soup, iceberg lettuce salad, rice and stir-fried vegetables. Entertaining chefs roll their carts of ingredients to the tables to perform as well as cook, tossing knives into the air, playing with fire and dishing up the food with true performance aplomb. Guests applaud the show and then dive into the enormous portions. If you'd like to bypass the chaos of the teppanyaki tables and the steakhouse fare, ask for a seat at Ichiban's sushi bar or at one of the conventional tables.
