THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Il Capriccio Wood Fire Pizzeria Restaurant Review:
A spin-off of nearby Il Capriccio on Vermont, this vibrantly-colored little pizzeria is a welcome option in the currently unglamorous but promising block of Hollywood Boulevard. Among its attributes are pizza served by the slice---about four or five are usually available---and a small sidewalk patio. Pizzas are thin-crusted and occasionally suffer from slight sogginess in the center, but the charred, blistered edges are pleasantly chewy. The pizzeria’s repertoire consists of two dozen varieties cooked in a modern wood-fired oven, and customers can add additional ingredients to create endless permutations. The al Diavolo features nicely spiced pepperoni, the pizza bianca appears generously layered with five cheeses, and the tropicale version combines pineapple with large slices of prosciutto. Predictable salads and panini are also offered.
