Il Castello Restaurant Review

: Il Castello’s décor is charming but simple: the 65-seat dining room is predominantly beige and cream colored. Service is accommodating and the menu is a reasonably priced and well-executed compendium of traditional northern Italian cuisine. It is what’s on the plate, in fact, that distinguishes the restaurant. Classic Italian soups like the nourishing and comforting minestrone recall old-world recipes. Veal dishes are a highlight and include a scaloppine with artichoke hearts, mushrooms and capers in a Cognac sauce, as well as a veal and lobster tail duo. Handmade pastas are served al dente and feature such fresh selections as angel hair tossed with chopped eggplant, spinach, garlic, olive oil and cherry tomatoes. The wine list features Italian regional varietals that complement the menu. Classic desserts round out the experience.
