Il Cortile Ristorante Restaurant Review: If you’re looking for Italian that’s well beyond the ubiquitous spaghetti and meatballs, you’ll definitely want to take a seat at Il Cortile. Chef Santos MacDonal learned the ropes in some of the finer kitchens in Los Angeles, and he showcases fresh ingredients in dishes such as grilled octopus, house-made pasta with buffalo ragù, and prosciutto tortellini served in a creamy truffle sauce. Mozzarella is considered its own food group here, and you can even order a tasting plate that includes fresh burrata and authentic mozzarella di bufala. Dessert usually includes something very chocolate, like molten chocolate cake, and something very Italian, like panna cotta. The ample wine list has local representation, plus a wide selection of Italian labels and a good by-the-glass lineup. Seating options range from the indoor main dining room and small bar area to the outdoor patio.
