Seating is cramped and the room is often noisy, but the staff is warm and pre-appetizers are free. After whetting your appetite, try the buffalo mozzarella or go for the escargots perched inside mushrooms and clams with bacon. For entrées, the recited specials are usually the way to go with items like osso buco, Dover sole and double-cut veal chop. Save room for the homemade desserts, especially the wickedly sublime cheesecake. Il Giglio (the lily) is expensive, but one of the best Downtown Italian restaurants.
