Il Mulino Restaurant Review:

Il Mulino was created in Greenwich Village in the early 1980s, and the concept continues to spread to big cities. An open kitchen creates a bustle, which matches the urban ambience in the dining room, but conventioneers commandeer many of the big tables, creating a noise level that is not conducive to quiet conversation. Food focuses on the cuisine of Italy’s Abruzzi region, with garlicky sauces, hearty pastas and big cuts of meat. Parties of four or more may opt for family-style dining with a fixed menu. Start with traditional antipasti, including complimentary sausage with roasted eggplant served alongside house bread, or opt for the polpette al forno, saucy oven-roasted meatballs. For those who want to try more variety of flavors but in smaller sizes, the restaurant also allows for half orders of many of the dishes. Some of the more popular selections, in addition to the many pastas, include the wood-fired pizza margherita and the seafood risotto. For dessert, try the signature tartufo, a scoop of Italian gelato encased in chocolate and served with whipped cream and zabaglione. The wine list has a solid selection of Italian bottles and choices by the glass.
