| Reasonably priced Italian cuisine---a bit more interesting than the standard trattoria fare, including a few regional specialties from owner Celestino Drago's native Sicily---is the trademark of this crowded but handsome little spin-off of Drago, the chef's flagship Santa Monica restaurant. The beef carpaccio is first-rate, ditto on the big-eye tuna and smoked swordfish versions. The fresh handmade pastas alone make a trip here worthwhile (pumpkin tortelloni with creamy sage sauce, pappardelle with venison-porcini ragù). We also recommend the risotto with wild mushrooms and truffle-flavored cheese fondue. As at most Drago-owned establishments, you can't go wrong with tiramisu or panna cotta---both wonderful finishes at this lively eatery that represents one of the better values in Beverly Hills. |
