India Chef Restaurant Review: India Chef’s kitchen takes a tame approach to seasoning, and that may well appeal to some who steer clear of the cuisine because of its reputation for palate-searing intensity. On the other hand, if you want your food spicy, specify that when ordering, as both mild and medium levels show no heat. Chicken tikka is moist and flavorful, but the star of this operation is the lamb, which may adorn a raft of dishes. The lunchtime lamb curry is lovely over basmati rice, with a side of raita made crunchy with shredded carrot. Express lunch, with soup (which we recommend) or salad, main dish of your choice and fruit-yogurt dessert, is a deal. The soup may be a lentil broth studded with just a tiny nip of lemon. From the full menu, try the lamb pasanda, its creamy, mildly spiced yogurt sauce enveloping tender chunks of lamb. Don't want lamb? Have it made with chicken. All meats are halal. Vegetarians are well accommodated. Desserts are traditional, such as rice pudding and mango-pistachio ice cream. Beer includes a couple of Indian labels, and wine choices are mainstream. |
