THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Indigo Restaurant Review:
The first step in gentrifying the area of East Falls where Midvale Ave. crosses Ridge is Indigo, a bright blue restaurant with aspirations to develop a lively bar scene, serving either tapas-style foods or whole meals. Right now, the food, while not bad, lacks innovation and imagination. It offers mostly familiar preparations with a lot of goat cheese, smoked tomatoes, chipotles and sweet potatoes thrown around, with some shaved Parmesan on top for good measure. Chef Gabe Jamarillo must redefine his perimeters, and hook his new American grille into something more substantial than a few gimmicky seasonings. To be fair, the beef satay appetizer sizzled with flavor, and the rib steak was quite good. Well consider it a work still in progress, with an extremely friendly staff.
