The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges Restaurant Review: Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten (Jean-Georges, JoJo, ABC Kitchen, etc.) is behind The Inn at Pound Ridge by Jean-Georges, located in the colonial homestead that once housed the venerable Emily Shaw’s Inn restaurant. The elegant and rustic space encompasses a downstairs dining room, upstairs dining room with barn-like ceilings and a wine cellar for private dining, not to mention two bars and four fireplaces. The kitchen has been entrusted to the dynamic duo of chef de cuisine Blake Farrar (The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges) and pastry chef Melody Farrar (ABC Kitchen). The farm-to-table cuisine features such delicately rendered options as sautéed black sea bass with braised fennel, lemon and tarragon, and a bacon Gruyère grass-fed burger with Russian dressing and yuzu pickles in an "East meets West under a bun"-inspired concept. Other entrées might include fresh rigatoni, ravioli and fettuccine among the pastas and grilled lamb chops as well as appetizing sides of roasted Brussels sprouts with pecans and avocado. Among the desserts are light and airy glazed donuts, a salted caramel sundae and artisan cakes and cookies. The wine list shows great range and careful selection, both in quality and price point. True to his commitment to local producers, Vongerichten even tracked down wines from New York and Connecticut that pair nicely with his menu. Cocktails follow the trend of using fresh ingredients and small-batch spirits, and there are also “mocktails” sans the alcohol.
