Irma's Southwest Grill Restaurant Review

: First-time diners at Irma's Southwest Grill happily say, "Mmmm, tastes just like Mom makes." Mom would be Irma Galvan, the Tex-Mex diva of the warehouse district who has dished up a mean enchilada for years. Her son, Louis Galvan, has his own downtown enterprise. Still, it takes more than maternal instincts to make any place thrive, and those qualities are evident here. Besides the hip, industrial chic atmosphere illuminated with tiny bulbs hanging from a ceiling of exposed ductwork, the bill of fare lives up to the restaurant’s roots. In addition to old Irma’s favorites like enchiladas or chicken mole, try the grilled Southwest catfish or chicken breast, smothered in chipotle sauce, each placed on a bed of poblano-garlic mashed potatoes and served with a pleasant side of julienne vegetables and a salad dressed with balsamic vinaigrette.
