THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Isabella's Estiatorio Restaurant Review:
This is quite a festive restaurant, especially when full. Okay, so you can interpret that statement as noisy, since sound bounces off the wood floors and vanilla-colored walls with a vengeance when all of the 100-plus seats are full. This is a Greek restaurant that is not a Greek restaurant in dish selection and in style. The word estiatorio implies a restaurant, but one that is on a higher level---in terms of atmosphere and price---than, say, a taverna. Isabella's menu is rife with interesting dishes, like a salad with fig and goat cheese, a juicy pork filet and fall-apart braised short ribs. These are not exactly Greek or Mediterranean, but the way each dish is gussied up with various cheeses, olives, artichokes and lemon-oregano dressing, the taste message becomes clear. Try steamed mussels with roasted fennel and tomato-ouzo broth and mesquite-grilled rib-eye with fondant potatoes, haricots verts and oven-cured tomatoes, when available.
