THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Islander Grill Restaurant Review:
For beach-goers, the Islander Grill is ideally located. It sits across the street from the Gulf of Mexico, and while it doesnt offer the view, it definitely provides the convenience. Chef-owner Gus Scholle used to operate Stellas Restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California, so he brings his California-style recipes to the menu for breakfast and lunch. As you might expect of California cuisine, theres a touch of fresh fruit here, a taste of natural flavor there. All the salads are dressed in olive oil. Scholle roasts all the meats himself to avoid additives. All recipes and sauces are homemade, and while the menu is still somewhat fluid---he opened August 2000---Scholle is constantly changing some items while keeping many standards: eggs, sandwiches, salads. Scholle also caters and sometimes rents out the entire restaurant for private parties, so a call ahead couldnt hurt.
