Don't let the kitschy Hawaii-wannabe décor fool you into thinking this is just fun and games. Islands' food is serious business---seriously good for the soul (if bad for the waistline). The golden, crispy fries are so addictive, especially dunked in ranch dressing, that by the time the rest of your food arrives you might just be full. But be sure to save room for one of the eight humongous burgers (like the Hula, with sautéed mushrooms and Swiss cheese), the crispy chicken Tiki Tenders, or if you want to stick to the slightly healthier side, the Wiqui Waqui barbecue chicken salad. If you order the Tiki Tenders, ask to have all four sauces brought out, and don't be afraid to substitute the honey-mustard dressing for the honey-mustard dipping sauce---it's zestier. Also a great place to celebrate with generous (and strong) frozen cocktails. The best part is that in the midst of Beverly Hills hosh-and-posh, Islands makes everyone from the family of four to the filmmaker who works across the street feel welcome. Mahalo!
