Istanbul Cafe Restaurant Review: Nestled in a neighborhood shopping strip, this intimate dining spot with authentic Turkish cuisine is a true find. High-back booths, cloth-covered tables, dark woods, floor-to-ceiling windows and usually polished service create a European feel. The signature shepherd chopped salad is ample enough to share. Regulars come just for the iskander kebab that has slices of lamb and beef smothered in rich tomato sauce and accompanied with cool yogurt. On the lighter side are the well-seasoned chicken kebabs teamed with rice pilaf and sautéed vegetables. A dessert of Turkish coffee and creamy rice pudding or house-made layered chocolate nut cake makes a lovely finale to a leisurely meal.
