Itadaki Restaurant Review:

Itadaki is not the typical Newbury Street restaurant. This Japanese izakaya focuses on shared plates, and seating comprises an outdoor patio during the warmer months, an upstairs sushi bar and a lower level main dining room. If you arrive with a group, be sure to order an enormous scorpion bowl available in blue (made with blue curaçao); red (mixed with rum, vodka and gin); or green (saké). We recommend starting with one of the specialty sushi rolls like the Volcano, made with crispy soft shell crab and fresh tuna rolled up with spicy mayo, onions and scallions, or the chef's Spicy Tuna roll (we prefer ours with extra sriracha sauce). If you haven't tried a sushi pizza, you’re in for a treat: a crunchy rice cake is topped with fresh lobster, crab meat, tuna or salmon. Bento boxes, rice bowls and Itadaki miso ramen round out the menu. End the meal with the Japanese-style crème caramel with whipped cream.
