Opening up on the site of Dupont Circle’s ill-fated Le Pigalle, Jack’s offers muscular fare with European flair, plus some bits of Americana---like hamburgers and fries and Caesar salad. We recommend the goat cheese salad with mixed greens and the steamed mussels; New Zealand braised lamb shank is meaty enough but relatively tough. Other options include a stuffed chicken breast, its flavor enhanced with Pommery mustard sauce, a hamburger with Creekstone Angus beef, and baby-back ribs. Dessert selections are limited---crème brûlée and apple tart, for example---and do not include anything with real American calories.
