Jake's Del Mar Restaurant Review: Unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean and colorful sunsets don’t get any nicer. With a nod to its Hawaiian sister restaurants, Duke’s mai tais flow; fish tacos are cheap and cheerful on Wednesday nights; and the happy hour menu is one of the better deals in Del Mar. For starters, think ahi tartare tacos, barbecue ribs in honey sambal sauce, seafood chowder, citrus ceviche, and roasted beet salad with baby kale and blue cheese. Entrées include fresh seafood, steaks, pasta, vegetarian options and more, such as Kona coffee-crusted ahi with garlic edamame or Australian lamb chops with sweet potato purée. Don’t skip the hula pie. During the sunny seaside brunch, there's melon ricotta pancakes, lobster omelets and sticky macadamia coffee cake, good with a glass of bubbly.
