Jake's Famous Crawfish Restaurant Review

: Established in 1892, Jake’s has a patina of burnished woods and deep colors, as well as a polished panache. Oversize booths and cozy tables are scattered throughout several rooms, making this the rare restaurant that manages to feel both spacious and intimate. The kitchen prides itself on crayfish, but that's just the beginning. Its fresh sheet offers more than 30 changing seafood selections flown in daily. The simplest preparations are usually the best. Try the oysters, shrimp, salmon, rockfish, razor clams, Dungeness crab, sole, trout or sturgeon. Clam chowder makes a good starter. Dessert is far from an afterthought; we recommend the banana cream or Key lime pies. You may have to wait to be seated even with a reservation, but there's a full bar (the happy hour menu is legendary) and an extensive wine list to help speed the time. While it’s not a tourist trap, it is a favorite spot for out-of-towners. Service is among the most professional in town.
