Jake's Grill Restaurant Review: Jake’s Grill occupies the first floor of the historic Sentinel hotel, built in 1909. It remains a classic steak and seafood house, rich in character. The “good old days” are reflected in a patina of burnished woods and deep colors. Oversize booths and cozy tables are scattered throughout several rooms, making this the rare restaurant that manages to feel both spacious and intimate. Choose from steaks or fresh seafood like halibut, salmon and oysters, all prepared classically, without skimping on the butter and cream. Vegetables and sides, perhaps a generous mound of garlic mashed potatoes, round out the plate. The daily blue plate special is a good value, proposing such items as a flank steak salad, panko griddled calamari steak, and paella. Try the vanilla-rich crème brûlée for dessert. The bar offers a wide choice of fine spirits and wines.
