THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jax Grill Restaurant Review:
Heres the unexpected---a trendy café with sandwiches, pastas and more---adjacent to one of the loudest and most fun places in Tampa, the new GameWorks arcade complex. The GameWorks, a franchise co-founded by movie director Steven Spielberg, offers a wide variety of arcade, pinball and interactive games. Jax Grill, along with a lounge and bar, sits right in the middle of all that electronic gadgetry. Appetizers range from Tex Mex rolls (stuffed with marinated chicken, black beans, Jack and cheddar cheeses, corn, sun-dried tomatoes and avocado) to quesadillas (with melted cheese, sautéed peppers and green chilies, served with sour cream, guacamole and salsa fresco). The entrées are quite limited but are still well thought out and well-prepared, from fish n chips to meat loaf to grilled chicken breast. The pastas include chicken fettuccine, lasagna, ravioli, linguini and chicken pesto. There are also four rotisserie choices---baby back ribs, barbecue half-chicken, rotisserie-roasted half-chicken or a rib-and-chicken platter. Throw in a few pizzas and a half-dozen burger choices and we can see the appeal is clearly the temporary respite from all that electronic gaming.
