Jewel of India and its younger sibling, Shaan, are lavish Indian sanctuaries. Jewel of India fulfills its name with glistening mother-of-pearl-mosaic walls and elaborate ethnic trappings. From the clay tandoor ovens come barbecued prawns blushing with spices, and boneless chicken marinated in yogurt and ginger. Many Indian families dine together here on fierce vindaloo curries, many-flavored vegetable biryanis and a wide array of breads, filled, puffed or plain. In addition to the obligatory all-you-can-eat lunch buffet, there are a number of complete meals for dieters or vegetarians.
