| There's no wasting away at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville restaurant. The food here is worthwhile, but, then again, who even cares about the food when you're sipping your third margarita? For Parrotheads, or the biggest fans of Jimmy Buffett, a visit to Margaritaville is much more akin to a pilgrimage than a meal. Inside, it’s easy to imagine yourself on a tropical getaway, with portions in the shape of a ship, others like a tiki bar. Don't miss the volcano above the bar. Every hour---or is it every time they play Margaritaville?---the volcano erupts a lava of lime juice and tequila into a giant blender at the bar. Food here seems incidental, but there are some standouts, including the file gumbo, Cuban sandwich and, of course, the Cheeseburger in Paradise. If you don't dine here---the restaurant is located in the sprawling Universal Studios CityWalk plaza---be sure to stop by the takeout window to buy a frozen concoction. After a hard day at the theme park, you owe it to yourself. |
