Jimmy Casey's Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Jimmy Casey's eponymous restaurant opened in 1995 in this small city across the Hudson River from downtown Albany. The bar has a blue-collar feel; the comfortable dining room is more upscale with nice linens and glassware. The menu ranges from the prosaic --- Black Angus NY strip, filet mignon, calf’s liver, pastas and chicken --- to more involved seafood offerings such as Casey's seafood (little neck clams, shrimp, mussels, scallops, calamari, olives and capers in a garlic white wine sauce served over angel hair pasta), the lighthouse seafood platter (crab cakes, fried haddock, shrimp and scallops) and seafood Byron (shrimp, scallops and haddock simmered in a cheese-wine sauce). Desserts include a velvet chocolate mousse and Grand Marnier crème brûlée. The full bar offers 12 drafts, while a fairly-priced wine list, which has more than 30 selections by the glass, is well matched to the cuisine.
