Pan-Asian dishes hailing from Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore grace the tables. To start, the Malay coconut soup offers the same tangy spiciness of tom yum, the Thai specialty soup stocked with shrimp, udon noodles, carrots and green onions in a coconut milk base. Jinja is also known for its salads, such as the offbeat Asian Caesar with black tiger shrimp, pickled ginger and wonton crisps. For something more substantial, try the jungle green curry combining spicy and sweet flavors over fragrant steamed jasmine rice. Be sure to ask for a booth, especially one toward the back, where it tends to be quieter. The walls are covered with Asian tchotchkes and the lighting is fairly low; this is a good choice for lunch with a friend---or date night.
