THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED JJ Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

Tucked into an historic structure from the 1920s and perched two flights above the fray of Old Pasadena's Colorado Boulevard, this is one of the best-looking steakhouses you'll find in L.A. The décor combines the traditional men's club look (lots of rich wood and marble) with softer, artsier elements, including a sea of bud vases mounted on the wall, Romanesque statuettes and prominent fireplace. Some of the white linen-covered tables spill out onto a veranda overlooking the crowds, ideal for an after-dinner cigar. The steaks are seared between burners generating 1,600 degrees of heat and are generally outstanding. And the seafood includes interesting renditions of swordfish, salmon and Chilean sea bass. One of the best starters is an impressive shrimp cocktail wrapped in a crispy potato tower. Lobster, duck, rack of lamb and pasta are all available, but folks tend to go mostly for the on-the-bone rib-eye, New York strip and porterhouse. Pasadena legend Bill Maldonado provides background entertainment at the piano.
