Joe's Crab Shack Restaurant Review: Joe's Crab Shack is a down-home fun place, but one has to be in the mood for a lively, loud experience with decent food and haphazard service. The fare is loosely inspired by the cuisine of New Orleans, the mood --- more authentically --- by Mardi Gras. As the name suggests, crab rules with Dungeness, Alaskan snow and king crustaceans served barbecued, boiled, steamed, Chesapeake-style or infused with garlic. The signature dish arrives as crab in a silver bucket, which can be shared family-style. You can also get seafood enchiladas and stuffed shrimp, as well as meats, salads and pastas. Corn on the cob and cheesy smashed potatoes round out the plates. If you’re not in the mood for seafood, opt for the rib-eye, smoked ribs or pan-fried chicken in a Cajun mushroom sauce. The young servers are friendly and entertaining.
