| The wait to get in can be long, but it's worth it for the xiao long bao---Shanghai steamed buns that somehow manage to enclose hot soup in pastry. Order them with shrimp or pork, then suck out some of the savory broth before dipping the dumpling into black vinegar and ginger sauce and gobbling it whole. Other Shanghai delights worth trying are the sweet red bean pancakes, the cold sesame noodles, and the drunken crabs. Mix it up with some fried calamari in a spicy black bean sauce or, for the more adventurous, sliced kidneys with mixed vegetables. Other locations. |
