Joe's is a hoot. The restaurant looks zany, like 1950’s Mexicana crossed with American kitsch. You’ll find plenty of basic taqueria dishes with California style, and some surprises, such as Mexican-inspired pizzas. The brightly painted room is a jumble of wacky decorations, from dozens of bottles of hot sauce to ceramic Madonnas to a mounted fish. Best bets include Ensenada-style fish tacos with corn-battered red snapper, rock shrimp tostadas and roasted chicken.
