Julie’s Cuban Restaurant Restaurant Review: This tiny corner grocery store turned lively, welcoming Cuban restaurant may be off the beaten path, but it's well worth the journey. The menu is divided into ensaladas, aperitivos and platos, all ideal for sharing. Relax over a salad of oak leaf lettuce, ripe avocado, cucumber and tomato; spicy, red wine-poached chorizo; or ropa vieja, shredded beef with tomato sauce alongside ripe plantains, rice and beans. Equally memorable is the shrimp in spicy tomato-based sauce atop rice. Wrap up a meal with a slice of Key lime pie or the hot mango-banana bake. For sips, get a mojito, or consider a selection from the aged Cuban rums.
