| The cuisine of Afghanistan is offered at this simple storefront in Old City, its distinctive flavors evidenced in kebabs and stews. Specials include pumpkin with meat sauce and kebabs of beef and chickpeas with cilantro sauce; there are also dishes incorporating brown rice or saffron rice, while a steamed dumpling (ashak) is filled with scallions and served with homemade yogurt. A fried pastry, similar to a funnel cake, or firnee, a kind of pudding, may end the meal. |
