With its fish tanks and spare interior, Kam Chueh looks pretty much like all of the other no-frills restaurants in Chinatown. But you can taste the difference in house specialties such as squid in salted pepper, which is deep-fried to crisp perfection with no trace of oiliness. Even standard fare like sweet-and-sour chicken is done exceptionally. Since Kam Chueh is open until 5 a.m., it's a great place to satisfy your late-night cravings.
