Kantina has a casual elegance with a dramatic staircase that leads to the open-air patio and loft-style lounge. Start with the refreshing house margarita or hand-shaken pineapple mojito and pair that with the light ahi tartare tacos. For entrées, try the tender and spicy barbecue shrimp, moist French dip sandwich or the rotisserie-style chicken. At night, the small upstairs lounge transforms into a hot-spot for the well-dressed 20s and 30s crowd. In addition, Kantina has a glorious view of both Newport Harbor and Saddleback Mountains beyond. The restaurant also has the distinction of being one of only four restaurants in Newport Harbor with several empty boat slips right where everything from yachts to Duffy electric boats can anchor temporarily.
