THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Karl Ratzsch Restaurant Review:
Karl Ratzsch is practically a Milwaukee institution, well-known as the place to bring out-of-town guests for a true local experience and some of the city’s finest German cuisine. The menu features all the old-world favorites: sauerbraten (the house specialty), Wiener Schnitzel, beef rouladen and a sausage sampler. Those who aren’t fond of German cooking will find plenty of other European specialties and new-world favorites, too, including Athenian-style lamb chops, breaded chicken Parmesan and broiled, planked Lake Superior whitefish. While vegetarian options are limited, there are potato pancakes with apple sauce, Caesar salad and eggplant-spinach Parmesan. Finish up with a German dessert: Viennese apple strudel, chocolate schaum torte or apple pancakes à la mode.
