Kate's Kitchen Restaurant Review: This unpretentious little restaurant with hand-painted walls attracts the morning club for Kate's Southern-influenced breakfast and lunch fare. Try the famous ginger-peach pancakes, or the french toast that arrives with a hefty scoop of granola and seasonal fruit. Honey-dipped hush puppies are surprisingly good, and savory Southern sides such as greens, beans and rice are made with a practiced hand. Don't mind the downscale digs: no reservations, no credit cards, a long wait and a walk through the kitchen to the bathroom are part of the bargain. |
