Kelsey & Kim’s Southern Cafe Restaurant Review:

Some call the food here “Southern,” others say “soul.” And then there are those who describe it simply as “home cooking.” But no matter the label, the dishes at this comfortable little cafe are quite good: deep-fried catfish; golden waffles with a mountain of whipped cream and fresh fruit; crispy, tender fried chicken. Choose from slow-smoked ribs, St. Louis style, in generous helpings, topped with the house’s rich barbecue sauce, and side dishes such as collard greens, candied yams, black-eyed peas and, of course, baked macaroni and cheese. Staff is friendly and the pace is relaxed. That’s not to say it’s slow, mind you. What’s your rush? Just sit back a bit, the food is on its way and it’s hot off the stove, too. When you’re ready for dessert, try a slice of sweet potato pie or the high and light coconut cake.
