Ken's Artisan Bakery Restaurant Review

: Founder and chief baker Ken Forkish easily waxes poetic about the Zen of creating the perfect bread or pastry. Aware of the heritage of bakeries, he fashioned his place after classic French pâtisseries and boulangeries producing rustic loaves while promoting community tradition. His philosophy is simple and straightforward: use the finest fresh, local and organic ingredients, and take no shortcuts. No wonder the flaky croissants actually require three days to make. For a little variety, try the almond, chocolate, or the ham and cheese versions. Plump morning buns are slightly sweet and fragrant with orange; we also recommend the fruit tarts. For lunch, enjoy one of several sandwiches on country brown, a baguette or French rye, with fillings ranging from turkey and cheese to water buffalo. There is also always a house salad based on what's fresh in the market. Monday is pizza night, when the pies feature Forkish’s crispy crust. Can't stop to eat? Ken's also sells bread and pastry to go.
