THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED King Fish Market Restaurant Review:
Though its becoming more noted for its goofy commercials than its food, King Fish Market has made a worthy splash in this Gulf Coast seafood-savvy market. Bragging fish is its middle name, this causal, but lively Richmond Strip hangout lives up to the billing. Like the classically trained chef before him, the current whiz in the kitchen offers a decent array of inventive dishes, while still sending out platter after platter of the fried fare Texans demand. Most impressive are the broiled seafood entrées like pistachio-crusted Atlantic salmon topped with a Chardonnay-lime sauce; Caribbean jerk catfish and crab-crusted mahi mahi in a passion fruit cream sauce. Grilled fare includes barbecued sea scallops, yellowfin tuna and soy-habanero chicken. Though plenty of upscale seafood houses have hooked its patrons into paying higher prices, this one remains reasonable, with every dish except lobster and filet mignon coming in at under $20, yet including mashed potatoes and an array of vegetable surprises. King Fish Market also sports a respectable wine list, with plenty of choices in the $20 range as well, making locals fall for this place hook, line and sinker.
