Quality seafood in the desert? Impossible, you say. Not if you’re dining at Kingfisher. The oysters are a good case in point. Bicoastal choices change regularly depending on what chefs Jim Murphy and Jeff Azersky can pluck from their purveyors. We always order the tender steamer clams served with thick slices of fragrant rosemary-infused bread, ideal for sopping up all that broth. Another sure bet is the macadamia-encrusted Hawaiian fish accompanied by sautéed spinach, steamed rice and fried sweet potatoes. Meat lovers opt for the grilled baby-back pork ribs glazed with prickly pear barbecue sauce. Desserts are also done with finesse. Save for a French bubbly, the all-domestic wine list showcases bottles from smaller producers. And if you’re still not convinced about this place, look around and you’re bound to see industry folks from other restaurants.
