| Though the commercial bakery is most famous for the puffy sweet bread that is fried up for breakfast, it also creates very creditable breakfast pastries, cookies and desserts. The adjacent restaurant serves island favorites like saimin (seafood noodle soup), kalua pork and chicken katsu. For dessert, try the strawberry napoleon or macadamia torte. Note: There is another branch called The Local Place that offers the same menu in a fast-food setting (18605 S. Western Ave., Torrance, 310-523-3233). |
