| Master Indian chef Kiran Verma dazzled the Indian food cognoscenti with her dishes at Ashiana restaurant in West Houston. In a spot formerly occupied by Bombay Palace restaurant, she brings to the inner loop her fresh renditions of classic dishes paired perfectly with wines. In fact, she sports the most extensive wine list of any Indian restaurant in town and showcases the exciting pairings at wine dinners. The menu features more seafood than most Indian restaurants, including lobster curry; Chilean sea bass with mango chutney; and tiny, tender mussels in white wine-saffron sauce. Fresh sea scallops are mouth-meltingly tender, while meaty rack of lamb tingles with just the right amount of spice. Finish with the pistachio or cardamom crème brûlée, just right and light after a full-flavored Indian feast. |
