The Holcomb family has owned Ki's since its inception in 1980, when Catherine "Ki" Holcomb wanted to provide fresh juice to the community. She started cooking home-style meals and, 30-plus years later, people are still enjoying the healthy cuisine and ocean views. The eco-friendly restaurant has an appealing menu, with tasty starters like chili-lime edamame, flatbread with figs and prosciutto, and grilled beets and burrata. Long before kale became all the rage, Ki's was known for its sweet kale and strawberry salad, dotted with avocado, almonds and feta. Entrées include pan-seared salmon in a miso glaze with truffle cauliflower purée, and butternut squash and corn soft tacos. Meat-centric folks can order the naturally raised filet mignon with garlic mash or a brined pork chop. Befitting its seaside setting, there’s a daily fresh catch, mussels, clams, and a macadamia and coconut mahi mahi. A walk-up counter downstairs provides smoothies and healthy breakfast and lunch options, too. If you're seeking out a sunset perch for a nice glass of red or a tropical drink, Ki's is a low-key spot to watch the sun sink into the Pacific and the surfers catch the day's last waves in Cardiff. Occasional live music adds to the scene.
