A young and professional crowd that looks like it used to drop cash at Next Door Nobu waits up to 45 minutes on a weeknight for the $25 prix-fixe menu (the restaurant doesn't take reservations) at the streamlined Kitchen 22. Choose from five starters (including salmon tartare with pickled cucumbers, caperberries, mizuna and lavender mint crème fraîche) and five entrées (including roasted chicken, grilled flat iron steak), all competently prepared with Charlie Palmer flair. Affordable wine suggestions (nothing over $35) are made for each dish. For dessert try a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese icing or flourless chocolate cake and chocolate ganache, just like at home---though home probably doesn't look like this pseudo-1950s airport lounge of teal booths and white plastic chairs.
