The city of Novato has the second largest population in Marin County and very few good restaurants. That changed with the appearance of Kitchen on Grant Avenue. Nestled among the planted trees with twinkling lights is Chris Douglas' personal bistro. The walls are red and gold, with nice paintings and stately drapes blocking any drafts. For Novato, it's very boho. The seared steak tartare is a don't-miss for starters. Entrées range from a sweet paprika roasted chicken to a gigantic house-cured pork chop. Save room for the duo of granitas: Meyer lemon and blood orange.
