Klimat Restaurant Review:
The interior of this Polish eatery is reminiscent of a pub from Mitteleuropa, with slat-wood benches and tables, stone walls and a healthy selection of Czech, Polish and Russian beers served in hefty half-liter sizes. If you like your piwo fruity, ask for a syrup shot. The extensive wine list even offers Georgian wines. The expanded menu is full of old-country specialties like pierogies (stuffed with chicken, potatoes or mushrooms, and sauerkraut) that come with caramelized onions and zapiekanka, a toast topped with mushrooms and cheese, and zesty kielbasa as well as more untraditional options (for Central Europe, anyway) like pressed panini, Greek salads and decent burgers. With a garage door frontage that opens onto Seventh Street allowing for a nice breeze and a good view, Klimat is one of the finer drinking establishments in the East Village.
