Koi SoHo Restaurant Review:

Set on the ground floor of the glass monstrosity that is the Trump SoHo New York, in a spot where an upscale Italian restaurant once existed, the city’s second Koi outpost serves a menu similar to that of its four siblings. But there are a few tasty exceptions. Very good lobster tacos, for example, are unique to this location: the crispy shell and the rich crustacean are a nice textural pairing. Another winning item only at Koi SoHo is the Northern Lights Roll: crab and salmon sprinkled with black truffles; it makes you wonder why truffles and sushi are not married more often. Koi signatures include the tempura scallops, the seared tuna with foie gras, and the spicy tuna-topped crispy rice (for a real treat, order the off-the-menu truffle-loaded avocado crispy rice). Mochi is a nice sweet ending to the meal. Wine is globally sourced with some exorbitantly priced bottles and a few bargains by the glass.
